Here’s a really special little Martin.

This is a 2017 Martin 0-18, and it is an exceptionally clean example. It was previously owned by a collector and has been extremely well cared for. The condition is super impressive, like new, for a guitar that is nine years old.

And being nine years old, this 0-18 has also had plenty of time to open up and mature. And you can hear it. It has a wonderfully warm, clear and seasoned voice, with the kind of effortless response that makes a good small-body Martin so much fun to play.

The first thing that caught my eye is the top. It has beautiful, pronounced silking running through the Sitka spruce, along with some very subtle bear claw figuring beneath the bridge that gives the wood just enough personality without taking away from the classic Martin 18-style appearance.

And then there’s the sound. This little 0 has that wonderful Martin small-body voice — clear, warm, articulate and surprisingly full for such a compact guitar. It has a beautifully balanced response and is particularly lovely for fingerpicking, but it also has plenty of punch when you dig in with a pick. A guitar you want to pick up all the time and keep playing!

The guitar is also equipped with a K&K Pure Mini pickup, professionally installed by a luthier. It’s a fantastic pairing for the 0-18 and gives you a very natural amplified sound without altering the character of the guitar acoustically. I love KnK minis, just plug in a guitar cord and go... no batteries sitting inside your guitar or to run out!

The 0 size is one of Martin’s classic body shapes, and there’s something wonderfully intimate about playing one. It’s smaller and incredibly comfortable to hold, so intimate, but it doesn’t sound small.

This is a really beautiful example of the 0-18, and the combination of its exceptional condition, beautiful top, professional K&K installation and gorgeous voice makes this one a particularly nice one to add to your collection.
