Here we have a truly rare Epiphone. Very little information can be found about this model, and accordingly it only rarely appears on the used market. A guitar that should be particularly interesting to collectors and fans of unusual Epiphone models.

It belongs to the Korina series, best known for the Explorer. The series also included a Flying V and this SG model. Korina refers to the wood used for the body, while the neck is made of mahogany.

The SG Korina was available in two different finishes. This is the rarer version, featuring lighter contrasting body edges that beautifully highlight the grain of the Korina wood.

The slim C-shaped neck is a dream to play and feels excellent in the hand. It is equipped with the typical Korean Epiphone humbuckers with gold covers, delivering a warm, balanced and powerful sound. The gold hardware is also remarkably well preserved considering the guitar is almost 30 years old.

Overall, the guitar is in excellent condition. There is no major damage, only normal light signs of use.

The frets showed only very minor wear, but several were slightly too high. We therefore carefully leveled, recrowned and polished them and then gave the guitar a complete setup. The result is an excellent action and exceptionally smooth playability.

We believe this model certainly has some potential as a small collectible investment. More importantly, however, we would be happy to see it go to a guitarist or collector who appreciates its rarity.
