Rare and highly desirable 1982 Gibson “Standard 82” Les Paul in Honey Burst with a deep, three-dimensional quilt maple top. This is not subtle figuring, it’s the real thing.

The Standard 82 was one of Gibson’s earliest attempts at a ’59 Reissue, built in the original Kalamazoo factory during its final years (unlike other early-‘80s models made in the then-new Nashville plant). With its 1-piece mahogany neck and body, it was a higher-end build than the more common Elite 80 of the same era, and it carries the legendary Tim Shaw humbuckers that collectors seek out on their own. The neck is a full ‘59-style carve, substantial but remarkably comfortable. I have smaller hands and it’s the most comfortable neck I’ve ever played.

Very good vintage condition with attractive natural nitro checking and light cosmetic wear consistent with age. No structural issues, breaks, or repairs.

• Recently professionally refretted for immaculate bends to match those killer pickups

• ABR-1 bridge upgraded for performance (original bridge included in the case)

• Original Tim Shaw pickups and original CTS pots with 1980 date codes (1378045), consistent with Kalamazoo assembly

• Evidence of minor past solder work in the control cavity (see photos)
