Gnarly Narrowfield Musicality: Hum-free Haymakers

The T-style guitar has remained synonymous with fleet-fingered technique, powerful performances, and shimmeringly sweet heat, since its inception, and the PRS SE NF 53 carries the torch of Country, rock ’n’ roll, and anything else with a workhorse tradition, blending premium tonewoods with malleable playability and roaring character. Following the critical acclaim given to this axe’s sibling, the SE NF 3, the SE NF 53 was endowed with an aural aperture that wields the same circuit sorcery to drive a deluge of dazzling dynamism. Two PRS-designed Narrowfield DD “S” pickups give you a smorgasbord of tonal possibilities, impressing guitarists with flexible yet focused sonic character. Outfitted with a lightning-fast neck, sculpted contours, and a brass-barrel-equipped bridge, the PRS SE NF 53 was engineered for expressive and sonorous performances, from subtle and smoldering to searing and scorching.

Luthiers at PRS spare no effort in dialing in the ideal tonewood concoction, and the PRS SE NF 53 is no exception. Its swamp ash body anchors the axe’s sonic profile in transparent, fundamental-strong voicing that’s balanced, focused, articulate, and largely free of overtones. Maple makes up the neck and fingerboard, imbuing tones with a warm, balanced voice, adding a shimmering veneer to every register without sacrificing clarity. Together, this tonewood combination conjures a landscape of electrifying possibilities to excavate innumerable, vibrant tones for your next studio or stage performance.

Narrowfield pickups, expansive sonic potential

Drawing inspiration from its bigger sibling, the SE NF 53 deploys the “S” variant of PRS’s Narrowfield DD (Deep Dish) pickups. With neck- and bridge-mounted options, this diverse dyad captures the peak characteristics of a humbucker, a P-90, a traditional single-coil, and a mini humbucker, merging them into a distinctively voiced and carefully tuned force of punchy, laser-focused tones. Master Tone and Volume controls are complemented by a 3-way blade switch, giving you the keys to robust onboard sound shaping.

Sculpted for exquisite expression

Meticulous contouring endows the PRS SE NF 53 with a menagerie of style and comfort, augmented by pairing an NF 53-profile neck with a 10-inch fingerboard radius, accommodating multitudes of play styles with ease. Its heel and treble-side cutaway were sculpted with exacting precision, providing unfettered access to all 22 frets and supplying players with the carefully calculated space needed to navigate the 25.5-inch scale. Plus, the classic steel plate-style bridge includes brass barrel saddles, amplifying sustain and clarity to meet your most explosive fretboard fireworks.
