High-Grade Power Supply for the E-mu Systems Emax I & II - Rack and Keyboard Versions

Emax units are prone to SMPS failures. Of the seven units I've worked on, five had dead power supplies. That called for a new design :) This PSU is live-ready and built to withstand warzone conditions, while maintaining the highest standards of audio performance.

Topology

This PSU uses two oversized, Class B EMI-filtered SMPS units, designed to minimize mains pollution and heat from the ground up. I've incorporated a primary-side pi-filter to suppress mains interferences right at the input. The output rails undergo multistage conditioning through massive differential pi-filters and common-mode filtering, followed by additional linear regulators for even tighter voltage regulation. The entire PCB features separate ground planes for improved noise management. The capacitors are rated for 5,000+ hours of operation, while the SMPS units themselves are specified for a service life of 100,000+ hours.

This PSU barely heats, and there's absolutely no background hiss under proper operating conditions.

Information
