Gibson Custom Shop Don Felder “Hotel California” ’59 Les Paul Aged & Signed 2010, an extraordinary instrument where music history, collectability and the timeless appeal of a late-1950s Les Paul Burst come together. Its construction follows the classic 1959 Les Paul formula, with a one-piece mahogany body topped with beautifully figured maple and finished in aged nitro for the unmistakable appearance and feel of a genuine vintage instrument. The mahogany neck features the dedicated Don Felder 1959 profile, paired with a rosewood fingerboard, 12” radius, 22 Medium Jumbo frets and a nylon nut. A BurstBucker 1 in the neck position and BurstBucker 2 at the bridge provide the guitar with its unmistakably vintage-inspired voice. The neck pickup is warm, deep and articulate, while the bridge delivers greater attack, presence and harmonic complexity, becoming wonderfully aggressive as the amplifier starts to break up. Together they offer the dynamic response and openness that make a great Les Paul so expressive. An ABR-1 Tune-o-matic with Stop Bar tailpiece, nickel hardware, Gibson Deluxe tuners and traditional independent volume and tone controls complete its classic specification. At 3.990 kg, the guitar also feels lively, resonant and beautifully balanced. Yet this instrument inevitably goes far beyond its specifications. The Don Felder name and “Hotel California” connection place it alongside one of the most recognizable chapters in rock guitar history, while its Aged & Signed configuration adds another level of exclusivity and collectability. A Gibson Custom Shop created around a legendary guitar, player and sound. A serious collector’s piece, but also a magnificent Les Paul that reminds you with every chord why the mythology surrounding the 1959 Burst remains as powerful today as ever.
