Experiencing the golden-era sound the Stratocaster established in the late 1950s isn't easy today. Original 1957 examples are expensive and rare, practically out of reach for most players to actually own and play. And yet countless guitarists still chase that sound, that feel.

To answer that desire, Fender founded the Custom Shop in 1987 — a special division bringing together their finest builders to bring vintage-era sound and looks back to life in the modern day. This 1992-built 1957 Stratocaster is a precious example built during that very early Custom Shop period.

A small headstock with spaghetti logo, a V-shape one-piece maple neck, an 8-screw single-ply pickguard, and an alder body — the spec faithfully recreates the original 1957. It's fitted with special pickups hand-wound in the Custom Shop, drawing out every bit of subtle picking nuance and beautiful overtone. A neck with naturally figured maple grain and the rich midrange of quality alder give this guitar a premium presence, both sonically and visually.

A pickguard yellowed with age, well-worn metal parts, a neck that carries the traces of hands that have played it — all of it lends this guitar the conviction of an instrument that carries real history, not just a reissue. The more it's played, the deeper its sound and looks become. This isn't merely a reproduction — it's the real thing, across time.

Early Custom Shop models had low production numbers and are now highly regarded in the collector market. The finish satisfies both as a player's instrument and as a collector's piece. This is a guitar we especially want in the hands of anyone seeking a true reissue in every sense of the word.
