A “Deluxe” Jazz Bass that carries on Fender tradition with a thoroughly modern spec sheet!
The American Deluxe series debuted in 1998. While staying true to classic Fender tone, it incorporated parts suited to modern music scenes, chasing “sound, quality, and spec” a notch above the standard series.
This 2005 example is fitted with SCN (Samarium Cobalt Noiseless) pickups, a bridge that allows for top-load or string-through stringing, and a heel-cut 5-bolt neck joint.
It runs an 18V active circuit with Volume, Pickup Balancer, Treble, Bass, and Middle controls. As is typical of active circuits from this era, rolling off the Mid EQ also pulls the volume down noticeably. The EQ response is very gentle overall, which makes it convenient for small on-the-fly tonal adjustments.
With the EQ flat, it has a clean, traditional Fender voice. A great choice for anyone chasing classic Fender tone with extra power and a noiseless, quiet Jazz Bass.
