Martin HD-28 Standard Series Acoustic Guitar | Solid East Indian Rosewood & Sitka Spruce Dreadnought

The Guitar That Defined the Modern Acoustic Standard

For generations, the Martin HD-28 has been one of the world’s most respected acoustic guitars. Its powerful dreadnought body, solid Sitka spruce top, and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides have become the benchmark sound for countless recordings, performances, and songwriting sessions.

The HD-28 builds on Martin’s legendary D-28 design by adding forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing and vintage-inspired herringbone trim, producing a richer low end, greater responsiveness, and exceptional projection while preserving the unmistakable Martin voice.

Whether you’re performing on stage, recording in the studio, or simply enjoying an evening of playing at home, the HD-28 delivers the depth, clarity, and dynamic range that has inspired musicians for decades.

✅ Why You’ll Love This Guitar

Some guitars don’t need to chase trends—they create them.

The Martin HD-28 has earned its reputation through decades of consistent excellence. It is equally at home in bluegrass circles, singer-songwriter performances, country bands, worship teams, and professional recording studios.

For players seeking one guitar that can do nearly everything exceptionally well, the HD-28 continues to be one of the finest choices available.

✅ Tobias Music Expert Opinion

After nearly five decades as a Martin dealer, we’ve watched countless guitars come and go.

The HD-28 has remained one of the most consistently impressive models Martin has ever produced.

Its combination of warmth, headroom, sustain, and projection allows it to excel with both aggressive flatpicking and delicate fingerstyle playing. As the guitar opens up over time, its voice becomes even richer, rewarding years of playing with increased depth and complexity.

If someone asks us for a lifetime acoustic guitar, the HD-28 is always part of that conversation.
