The Zildjian 22" Z Custom Ride is the largest standard ride in the modern Z Custom lineup. Designed for drummers who play metal, hard rock, punk, and other high-volume styles, it is the heaviest ride cymbal in Zildjian's current catalog, delivering exceptional projection and stick definition.

- Series: Z Custom (reintroduced in 2024)
- Model: Z40122

- Long sustain with plenty of volume
- Built to withstand aggressive playing
Best For
This ride excels in:
- Heavy metal
- Thrash
- Hard rock
- Metalcore
- Punk
- Loud live performances
It is less suited to jazz, blues, or lighter music where a darker, more complex ride sound is preferred.
Compared to the 21" Z Custom Mega Bell Ride
- 22" Z Custom Ride: More balanced with a full riding surface, strong ping, and controlled wash.
- 21" Mega Bell Ride: Features an oversized bell that dominates the sound, producing an extremely loud, piercing bell tone with less wash. It's aimed at drummers who frequently use the bell in heavy music.
Overall, the 22" Z Custom Ride is an ideal choice if you want a large, articulate ride with maximum projection and durability. It offers a little more versatility than the 21" Mega Bell Ride while still providing the aggressive, bright sound that made the Z Custom series famous.
