Vintage Watkins Scout 1963

The amp is a rare vintage Watkins Scout amp from 1963 in perfect working order.

This is a rare amp, and one of very few made between 1963-5. It is a similar circuit to the famous mk1 V-front Dominator. Rated at around 14 watts, it sounds a little less, making it a perfect amp for recording and home use.

The speaker is the original Elac speaker. The transformers are all original. The circuit is also original except a very few components.

Power tubes are brand new TAD EL84 (JJ), EZ81 rectifier tube is a vintage Telefunken and preamp tubes are brand new JJ ECC83.

The vibrato is perfectly working like all other functionalities in the amp.

All electrolytic caps were reformed to preserve the amp value and moreover the tone.

Sadly, a previous owner painted the front white panel with black paint but doesn’t affect the tone of course. So not a collector amp but it sounds really perfectly.

It sounds fantastic, a real sweet amp that has big studio presence and is a joy to play through.

It has been compared to a Vox AC15 and some say that this circuit was an inspiration to Jennings when designing the AC15 - it certainly can hold its own up against our AC10 for a fraction of the cost.
