After years of playing Taylor Dreadnoughts and Grand Pacific models, three-time Grammy award winner Ben Harper was after a smaller body with dynamic range, responsiveness but still power - and found it within the Gold Label Grand Concert. The guitar features a slightly-customized Shaded Edgeburst finish complemented by a cream pickguard over a torrified spruce top with mahogany for the back and sides. The guitar is the only Gold Label offering with Honduran rosewood for the fretboard as well as bridge. Andy Powers explains: "As a bridge material, Honduran rosewood will transmit more of the character of the string vibration into the top. Coupled with the Honduran rosewood fretboard, it becomes a more personal-sounding guitar. For an expressive player like Ben, he’ll have an easier time sounding like himself.
