A duophonic analog synthesizer released in 1974, featuring two independent synthesizer voice systems; while the 44-key miniKORG was released in Japan, it was sold overseas under the name Maxi-Korg. The miniKORG 700, miniKORG 700S, and 800DV are sister models. They share the same basic circuitry, with the 800DV essentially being a dual-voice version of the 700. Although it is described as having two voices, it is essentially built as if two miniKORG 700 units were placed side by side, each with completely independent circuitry. If you want to play chords with the same sound, you'll need to set both units to the same configuration. The defining feature of its sound is, without a doubt, the Traveler Controller. The upper knob controls the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter, while the lower knob controls the cutoff frequency of the high-pass filter; the position of these two knobs allows you to freely vary the character of the sound. With its incredibly rich and warm sound, this is a legendary KORG instrument that has been used by a wide variety of musicians.
