The 1959 Fender Esquire in Blonde is a solid-body electric guitar crafted from ash, featuring a single-cutaway design and a glossy blonde finish that exemplifies Fender's minimalist aesthetic of the era. Its one-piece maple neck and rosewood fingerboard are fitted with dot inlays, offering a smooth 7.25" radius suited for both rhythm and lead playing. The bolt-on neck, with a medium "C" profile, provides a classic feel and a familiar 25.5" scale length.
Electrically, the Esquire is defined by its single bridge-mounted single-coil pickup, controlled via a three-position tone switch along with standard volume and tone knobs. This original wiring offers a variety of tonal options despite the one-pickup layout, maintaining the bright, punchy character that distinguishes early Esquires from the later Telecaster models.
The guitar retains period-correct hardware, including single-line Kluson tuners, chrome-plated bridge components, and a top-load Tele-style bridge assembly. Combined with its ash body and maple neck, these features contribute to a responsive, articulate tone that highlights the simplicity and elegance of the original Esquire design.
