Studer Revox PR99 MKII - 2-track 1/4" tape machine with enclosure

Revox PR99 MkII, the professional deck from Studer Revox and the machine that spent the eighties bolted into broadcast studios, mastering rooms and edit suites across Europe. 7.5/15 ips.

Condition and what I've done

The transport moves, the reels turn, the machine responds to controls and it plays tape back with audio, you can see and hear this in the video. I've fitted a new pinch roller, since the originals harden and glaze with age and it's one of the first things any tech would replace.

Cosmetically it presents well and sits in a lovely wooden case, with a few scuffs on the wood as shown in the pictures.

I'm not a tape tech and I don't have the test tapes or tape stock, so I'm not going to pretend I've evaluated it properly. I can't give you record or playback measurements, I haven't checked head wear against a reference, and it has not been recalibrated. Playback works, but I have not tested recording and can't guarantee everything is in full working order.

Whoever buys this will want to get it serviced, and I've discounted the price accordingly. Worth saying that parts and service support for these is excellent as there's a large community around Revox, the service manuals are freely available, and specialists across the UK and Europe work on PR99s regularly.

Sold as seen, based on the photos and video. No returns. The price reflects a machine that needs a service and may require some work.

Collection preferred from Hertfordshire. These are heavy, awkward machines and hand delivery is by far the safest way for both of us. Shipping can be arranged at cost, message me with your postcode and I'll get a quote. It'll be packed and shipped by Mail Boxes Etc and insured.
