This is a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster with a two-tone sunburst finish made in April, 2006. This model has numerous upgrades from "vintage" specs, like a super comfy 9.5" radius neck, and a dreamy two point tremolo system.

Although reasonable people can disagree, I didn't feel the noiseless samarium cobalt pickups were really "it" for this guitar, so I have replaced the electronics with a nicer looking (imo) black pickguard with a Vaughn Skow "Historic '59" stratocaster pickup set. These pickups sound incredible and while the wiring doesn't go for the complicated S1 switching that was in the original, there are some nice quality of life improvements over "vintage" as well. The first tone control affects the neck and middle pickups and the second tone control affects the bridge pickup, which, crucially, is the pickup you really need a tone control for. There is also a pickup expander switch as a mini-toggle that connects the neck and bridge pickups together, allowing you to get the two outside pickups together or even all three pickups at the same time.

The American Deluxe workmanship combined with the pickup upgrades make for a guitar that is effortless to play, with modern quality of life improvements, and that sounds classic in the best sense of the word.
