The finish is in excellent condition and all original. Normal discoloration on the seat. Lots of little "cracking" but the seat is not brittle or "hard" at all. The base/bottom is a bit out of round (see photos) and I don't know how the bottom was supposed to look so I don't know if it's been altered but it does sit flush to the floor. Super cool piece of vintage history. Not easily found online. Sold as is. No returns. Feel free to ask questions or make an offer!
