The JS1000 is a solid-body electric guitar model from Ibanez’s JS series, introduced in 1994. It is a signature model of American guitarist Joe Satriani. The guitar was manufactured in Japan by FujiGen.
The JS1000 is an evolution of the original JS1 model. It features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck, with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard and abalone dot position markers. The specifications include a pair of DiMarzio humbucking pickups, mounted in metal pickup rings, and a double-locking tremolo bridge. Like all models in the JS series, its body shape is derived from the now-discontinued Radius series.
From the beginning, two finishes were available: Black Pearl (BP) and Burnt Transparent Blue (BTB), the latter being known as Transparent Blue in the United States. Initially, both finishes were marketed in all regions. Later, Black Pearl became an exclusive finish for the JS1000 in the US market, while Burnt Transparent Blue was offered exclusively in Europe and Japan.
