About this listing
Hello,Up for sale is a very cool looking player grade 1972 Gibson II, walnut color. While all of our guitars are "in excellent to almost mint condition", or "part of a large private collection that only includes highly collectible and pristine instruments" etc... this one is not, cosmetically speaking. This Gibson SG has a very cool relic look, while being structurally sound. Think "real life" relic... If you are into those guitars, this one is for you. It was professionally modified by a luthier. Mods included:- Replacing both pickups by a matching set of Gibson 57 Classic and 57 Classic Plus. PU cavities were slightly enlarged to accommodate the new Gibson Humbucker (original pickups on this SG were of mini humbucker type)- Installation of Gotoh locking tuners- Shielding of the control and pickup cavities- Pots and capacitor change and correct wiring (control plate, pickup switches and output jack are original to the guitar)- New bridge and new knobs- Strap locksOriginal finish and no breaks whatsoever. Pickguard missing. Now the good news: this SG plays really well. It's a great resonating instrument and this is why it has been played for hours. The neck is straight, the truss rod functions, there is plenty of life in the frets (contrary to what the relic aspect of the guitar could lead to think). The guitar might have had a pro refret in the past, we are not sure. The action is low and the guitar is set-up with 10-46. Serial number is 7459xx. It comes with an original Epiphone caseCheck our feedback and buy with total confidence from LuxGuitars! Please contact us for exact shipping fees. They may slightly vary from the ones we put.
