UNION NM 9/500 DYNAMIC - XLR

A vintage German dynamic microphone originally supplied for Union tape recorder systems in the early 1960s. The Union NM9/500 shares its complete housing design and construction with established German broadcast-era speech microphones - like the UHER M 133 , featuring identical body tooling, stand system, and overall design concept. Originally intended for high-impedance system use, this example has been converted to XLR and now integrates effortlessly into modern recording setups.

OPTICAL CONDITION
Very good vintage condition with light signs of age consistent with careful use. The housing, grille, and branding remain clean and well preserved.

TECHNICAL CONDITION
Fully functional and tested. Professionally converted to XLR from the original system connection. The microphone operates reliably and delivers the warm, articulate sound typical of transformer-coupled German dynamic microphones from this period.

BUILD & DESIGN

Rectangular plastic body with a full-surface metal front grille. Rear plastic housing and side cable exit are characteristic of early 1960s German system microphones.

SOUND CHARACTERISTICS
Warm, speech-focused voicing with a controlled low end and excellent midrange articulation. Rather than extending into sub-bass territory, the microphone emphasizes clarity and body within the human voice range.
