EMS Vocoder 2000

Opportunity to buy an early EMS Vocoder 2000. According to my research, this unit may date from around 1977 and could be from one of the earliest production batches. One indication is the permanently attached mains cable, as later units appear to have been fitted with IEC connectors, possibly due to changes in electrical safety requirements.

The unit carries Rehberg badges / paint pen markings inside and was possibly distributed and/or assembled by Rehberg in West Germany.

I am selling this unit for a friend of mine. It was used in the 70s and put into dry storage in the 80s. Forgotten and recently rediscovered.

Apart from one potentiometer cap and the switch for the VU meter signal source, it is in original condition. The decision was to let the new owner decide whether it should undergo restoration or not. This type of potentiometer cap appears to be extremely difficult to find nowadays, so a replacement cap was 3D-printed to match the original look, the VU switch was not working properly and had to be replaced.

However, the visual condition is very good, and the Vocoder is in fully working condition. It was possible to calibrate it properly according to the service manual, and it was used for several hours after calibration. There are no defects that we know of, and it seems to be thermally stable as well.
