The Kenwood KX-5530 is an auto-reverse, 2-head single cassette deck featuring a Hard Permalloy record/playback head and support for Type I, CrO2, and Metal tape formulations. It delivers a frequency response of 20 Hz-18 kHz (Metal tape) with wow and flutter rated at ±0.06% WRMS, and an SNR of 73 dB with Dolby C engaged. Noise reduction options span Dolby B, Dolby C, and HX Pro. A standout feature is Auto-Bias, which automatically detects the optimal bias setting across 16 steps for each tape loaded, while Quick Reverse turns the tape around in approximately 0.8 seconds. The deck also includes A-B repeat, an MPX filter for FM recording, and CCRS - an automatic level-matching system for CD dubbing when paired with compatible Kenwood CD players.
