Fostex 380S Mid-90s - Dark-Grey

Fostex 380S in excellent condition cosmetic-wise and recently out of a full service.

These are not easy to find, and when you find them they have failing motors, failing motor-transistors which are obsolete, dirty and fragile leaf-switches which makes these units unreliable, aging rubbers, increasingly noisy screens due to age, etc...

All these known issues have been taken care off, which makes this unit very unique on the used market and ready to get used for creative purposes again as intended.

- Fader, potentiometer and switch-cleaning

Wow&Flutter is decent for this mechanism at 0.11% rms peak to peak (average within 10 seconds, check graphic in pictures), knowing the belts today are not the same quality as when the unit was new and this was measured at the slow speed of 4.75cm/s

This unit is particularly interesting as it has two very cool features:

1. The cassette door has a opening which allows the user to use external tape-loops, which makes the Tascam 414 so famous for to have for example.
2. It has Dolby S Noise Reduction, which is the last and personally the best Noise Reduction made I think, In tests there was no extra noise recorded after 4 bounces of the same track while frequency response stayed very solid.

The unit was made in the period at the very end of cassette-tape technology and is one of the two multitrack-deck models sold with Dolby S next to the Tascam 238S
