Metal meets Martin in this bold and unconventional collaboration between legendary luthier craftsmanship and progressive metal icon Mikael Akerfeldt, frontman of Opeth. The OM Mikael Akerfeldt is a limited-edition model built with dark elegance and vintage power. Its torrefied spruce top, enhanced by Martins Vintage Tone System (VTS), is paired with a dramatic three-piece back crafted from Guatemalan rosewood wings and an East Indian rosewood wedge. It marks the first traditional Martin build to feature the Low Profile Velocity necka fast, sleek carve that caters to electric players transitioning into acoustic territory.
Further setting this model apart are its custom Roman numeral inlays in black mother-of-pearl on an ebony fingerboard, GE scalloped X-bracing for vintage warmth, and black Liquidmetal bridge pins that increase clarity and sustain. Bound with European flamed maple and dressed in herringbone purfling, this OM is a stunning marriage of aesthetic and tone. Each of the only 74 guitars made comes with a Harptone case and a stainless-steel artist label, making it a unique and collectible masterpiece.
