Lovies Guitars is excited to present this 2000 Gibson R7 Les Paul Standard Tom Murphy Aged finished in Antique Gold. This is an exceptionally special early Gibson Custom Shop Historic example, featuring factory aging by legendary guitar aging pioneer Tom Murphy. Gibson has confirmed that this Les Paul was aged at the factory and that Tom Murphy was the only person who worked on the aging of this particular instrument.
The R7 designation represents Gibson's recreation of the iconic 1957 Les Paul Goldtop, and examples from this early era of the Historic program are highly regarded for their vintage-inspired construction, feel, and tone. The Tom Murphy aging adds another level of collectibility, giving this guitar the authentic appearance and character of a vintage instrument while preserving the playability and reliability of a modern Custom Shop guitar.
Finished in Antique Gold, the guitar has the classic Goldtop appearance that has made the '57 Les Paul one of Gibson's most recognizable designs. The aged finish and hardware give it an incredibly convincing vintage character, while the solid Mahogany construction and carved Maple top provide the sustain, warmth, and punch expected from a Les Paul Standard.
This guitar is all original (OG) and comes complete with its Original Hardshell Case (OHSC). Gibson has confirmed the factory aging history, with Tom Murphy being the sole individual who performed the aging work on this instrument.
Condition: 9.8/10 - Excellent. Factory aged by Tom Murphy. The aging is intentional and part of the original finish treatment. Otherwise, the guitar is exceptionally clean and well preserved.
