Up for sale is rare Japanese Epiphone, crafted at famous Terada factory. Model ES-930J follows classic Sorrento design from 1960s, a thin hollow-body with venetian cutaway. Made in 1991. These so-called "Orange label" Epiphones with 5-digit serial number are highly regarded for outstanding manufacturing quality and sound that could rival vintage models - has nothing in common with modern Korean/Chinese builds. Vintage US-made Sorrento command high prices nowadays, so take your chance on this one.Body is laminated maple, neck is mahogany, fretboard is Indian rosewood. Electronics are 2 dog-ear P90 with 3-way switch and volume/tone controls, appears to be all-original. Neck profile is C, a bit chunky but not too much, very comfortable to play. Tuners are Kluson vintage-style. The pickguard is missing but honestly I don't think it belongs here, somewhat ruining the appearance of that gorgeous sunburst finish. Of course one can easily order it online if needed. Very good condition for a 35-years old guitar - there is general feel of use, few small dings, back has fair amount of scratches and some residues from previously glued stickers. Overall, nothing serious. No cracks, no repairs. Electronics work just fine. Neck geometry is ok. New set of D'Addario 10-52 is installed, the guitar is setup and ready to rock out of the box. Sound is the strongest point of this beauty - this trademark Epiphone saturated, compressed hollow tone, super responsive to the touch, with springy basses and sparkling overtones. In many ways in reminds me James Bay vintage Epiphone Century sound that he brought into the spotlight with songs like "Let it go" and "Hold back the river". Perfect for indie rock, modern singer-songwriter applications, might be a good fit in jazz/fusion and neo soul. Comes in deluxe hardshell case and with seller's card.
