FOR SALE: ARP Model 2600C (1971) – “Gray Meanie”4012 Filters | 4011 OscillatorsThe ARP 2600C was produced in mid-1971 under proper factory conditions. The original blue “Marvin” faceplate was replaced with a gray faceplate, giving this model its famous nickname, the “Gray Meanie.” The wooden and metal enclosure of the previous model was retained, while a slightly updated keyboard (Model 3604C) was introduced. Approximately 34-35 of these instruments were produced. The ARP 2600C is, without a doubt, one of the finest analog synthesizers ever made. For decades, various versions of the Model 2600 have been used across virtually every genre of music and by countless legendary artists. This unique semi-modular, monophonic synthesizer was designed for professional musicians and sound designers, yet was intuitive and accessible enough to serve as an educational instrument. The 2600 was ARP's answer to the traditional modular synthesizer system, offering a more compact, stable, and intuitive design without sacrificing its extraordinary sonic flexibility. The 2600C Gray Meanie is the one to own.Due to its extremely limited production run, original vintage Gray Meanies have become highly sought-after, museum-grade collector's instruments. But this is far more than a collector's piece. It is also one of the finest-sounding and most musically useful synthesizers ever produced.THE CONDITION AND SOUNDThe 2600C I am offering for sale was expertly and meticulously gone through by legendary ARP technician Phil Cirocco of CMS (Discrete Synthesizers). His knowledge and expertise are widely respected among vintage synthesizer enthusiasts.Quite simply, this is by far the best-sounding ARP 2600 I have ever heard. The sound is absolutely magical. The instrument is exceptionally clean, with very few signs of age. Includes everything in the photos.
