1969 Ampeg Dan Armstrong “See-Through” Lucite bass. Original with POTs dating to 1969. This is an early version of the Dan Armstrong designed bass. Dan Armstrong was a New York guitarist, repairman, designer and instrument builder. In 1968, Ampeg hired him initially to work on its guitar line. Armstrong instead developed an entirely new solid-body concept using a clear acrylic/Lucite body.The model was introduced at the June 1969 NAMM show and was one of the most unusual American basses of its era.
