Free The Tone announces the Overdriveland ODL-1-CS custom shop version of the overdrive pedal, based on the sound of a later Dumble Overdrive Special amplifier.
To give an overdrive pedal the characteristics of a Dumble amplifier, Free the Tone tried out various circuit ideas, conducted experiments, and worked extensively on the development of a special drive circuit module. Just like the now hard-to-find Dumble amplifier, the Overdriveland is designed to offer a rich and distinctive sound, allowing guitarists to express their individuality.
Key features of the Overdriveland:
Equipped with a special drive circuit module.
ROCK/JAZZ switch for adjusting gain and frequency characteristics (Normal channel).
"GLASS" switch on the TONE circuit to bypass for a clear, glassy sound (Normal channel).
Individual variable output levels for the Normal channel and the Drive channel. Equipped with the HTS (Holistic Tonal Solution) circuit, which, unlike traditional buffer circuits, maximizes the guitar's sound characteristics during impedance conversion, achieving a balance between "sound" and "low noise." This HTS circuit prevents loss of sound quality, even when the effect is turned off.
Furthermore, the output signal is in phase with the input signal, which helps prevent phase inversion issues.
The "EQ ON/GLASS" switch controls the equalizer function of the Normal Channel. When set to "EQ ON," the "TONE" circuit is activated, allowing you to shape your sound. Selecting "GLASS" bypasses the "TONE" circuit, resulting in a bright sound reminiscent of turning on the Bright switch on a Blackface Fender Vibroverb.
The "ROCK/JAZZ" switch adjusts the frequency response and gain settings of the Normal Channel. The "ROCK" setting is designed to shape your sound with increased gain, while slightly reducing the gain in the low frequency range to prevent excessive low volume from distorting the input amplifier. The "JAZZ" setting, on the other hand, lowers the overall gain and is designed to emphasize the richness in the low frequency range.
