Dual Precision Adder with Comparator and Voltage Source


Banana version of the Add1 in 'Helene' style. Functions, technical specifications and dimensions (3U) are identical to those of the minijack version.

The Add1 module contains two independent precision adders, with respective different functionalities. The provided basic functions and their versality – suitable both for audio and/or CV applications - make this module to an useful part of any synthesizer equipment.

The first adder (on the upper segment of the panel) provides 3 inputs, whereby the 3rd input is equipped with a polarizing level knob for attenuation, slightly amplification (max. *1,5) and inversion of this input channel. The sum output has a switch for determing the amplification factor (between *0,5, *1,0 or *2,0); an additional red led indicates if the output signal is becoming overdriven.
The 2nd adder (on the lower segment) has two inputs and an addable voltage source with an amount control knob - level adjustable from 0 - 5V (optionally 0-10V) - and an inversion/zeroing switch. The output is switchable between sum and comparator mode. In sum mode, it will provide the sum of the added two inputs and the voltage source. In 'Comp' mode, the Add1 works as a comparator with a slightly schmitt-trigger characteristic (A 'Schmitt-trigger' comparator has two different thresholds for low > high and high > low to avoid noise during switching transition) . Depending if the input signal is beneath or above a certain threshold level, the output will become 0V or +5V (optionally -5V or +5V).This signal has only two states, 'low' and 'high', and it is suitable as gate or trigger signal. With e.g. a trianglewave applied, the output will become a squarewave with variable pulswidth.The threshold level is ≈ 0V, but it can be shifted by using the internal voltage source or by an external signal.
An yellow led is indicating the ‘high’ state; or in sum mode, the clipping of the output signal.

    Please note: For connection of CG Products banana modules to external devices a common ground connection must be ensured. If there isn't already a ground connection via e.g. a common power supply, we recommend the CG Products PCV-2. The PCV-2 provides a safe ground connection and interfacing with minijack and 1/4' jack.
