Antique Pre-war Romantic/Terz guitar, Flame maple, 1900s – Great condition and sound, with video

This wonderful little instrument is an unusual short scale example of a romantic guitar (or a terz guitar) made approx. in early 1900s in Schonbach, Markneukirchen or one of the other towns belonging to the "Musilwinkel" musical instrument making region on German-Czech border. It is a thoroughly refurbished historical instrument presently tuned in classic guitar tuning, light as a feather and produces wonderful singing voice and volume, especially considering its small size (the lenght of the guitar is only 85 cm / 33.4″ ). Construction-wise, this is a ladder-braced instrument with a solid spruce top, figured solid flame maple sides and back (one piece) and a comfortable straight neck with an ebonized fretboard. The brass and bone tuners are also authentic and work very well on all strings. The guitar went through a careful checkup and refurbishment, frets are the original and were left in the present state, as they are still in good condition. The cracks seen on the photos were repaired and do not impair the function or integrity of the instrument in any way.

The guitar boasts an airy, percussive sound with excellent balance and articulate basses with some very nice definition all around, and the neck is slim and has a great feel to it.

A vintage canvas bag is included in the purchase.

The scale lenght is 557 mm, nut width 40 mm, string spacing at the saddle is 51 cm and at the moment, it is strung up with a new set of nylon strings.
