Oktava MD-59 Omnidirectional Dynamic Microphone — 1969, USSR, Table Stand

Up for sale vintage OKTAVA MD-59 dynamic microphone in excellent working condition. Comes with original table stand, XLR output installed.

This microphone, manufactured in Tula at the OKTAVA plant, is a continuation of the design of the MD-45 microphone. Their main difference in that directionality of MD-45 is a cardioid, and of MD-59 is a circle. The perceived frequency band of the MD-59 is from 50Hz to 15000Hz, with unevenness of 8 dB, output impedance of 250 Ohms, sensitivity -78 dB.

In the sixties, the MD-59 was considered one of the best dynamic microphones. Now it is extremely rare. It is capable of creating a “vintage sound”!

The most great thing is their absolutely full reach adult sound like the one you can expect from the AKG, LOMO, Telefunken and other pedigreed microphones. These really sound just in similar way with the full top bottom end and incredibly low bass frequency response. If you are looking for an original, interesting sound, unlike a ringing modern one, and warm, middle, very convex, then the Octave MD-59 and similar models are awesome. They are great record a guitar if you shoot from a combo; your voice, if you want to convey the sound-mood of old records; you can shoot a bass drum and they hold pressure, in general there are a lot of advantages. In addition, it's probably the best microphone for harmonica! Add to this the fact that the more diverse the park of microphones, the more opportunities there is to create a unique sound.
