For sale is this Neumann KM85i from the 1970s, in excellent condition and 100% working.

Genuine vintage Neumann KM85i, professionally serviced and fully tested.

I have personally known this microphone since 2007, when I started working at the recording studio where it was already in use. I later acquired the studio, including its microphones and other equipment, in 2020.

The microphone has an original identification marking engraved on the metal body. This marking was already present when I acquired it and has been left untouched. It is clearly visible in the photos.

The original Neumann symbol/badge on the front is missing. It was lost at some point during the microphone’s previous history. Apart from this, the microphone is in excellent condition and completely unaffected in terms of its performance.

The microphone has always been carefully maintained, with a full revision and test carried out when I acquired the studio, and stored in a humidity-controlled cabinet at approximately 45% relative humidity.

It has just been fully checked and tested for unwanted noise, hum, crackling, and noise from the pad switch prior to this listing. It is completely clean and quiet in operation, with no hum, crackling, switching noise, or other issues. 100% working.

I have also tested this microphone together with my first KM85i, and their responses are remarkably similar — close enough that they could almost be considered a matched pair.

The microphone comes with its original Neumann case, with the serial number plate. On the case of this microphone, 50 years of storage and use have worn part of the serial number, although the beginning and end of the number are still visible. On the other one, the serial number on the plate is fully intact and clearly visible.

A beautiful genuine 1970s Neumann KM85i with a long professional studio history, excellent condition, and exceptional working performance.

Please check all the photos carefully for the exact cosmetic condition and identification marking.

I have two KM85i microphones available, listed separately as No. 1 and No. 2.

If you are interested in purchasing both, I am happy to offer a discount for the pair. Please contact me before purchasing both so we can arrange the combined price and shipping.

Please check my other listings as well, where you’ll find the other KM85i.
