On the first album J released, he listed the Big Muff as an instrument he played. The signature J Mascis Ram's Head Big Muff π replicates the sound of the originals, in a pedalboard-friendly Nano enclosure. It comes in the J's favorite color scheme—violet and white—a nod to the Violet-era Ram's Head variant and features J's signature on its front face.
