Select tonewoods such as mahogany, maple, and rosewood combine to give you a great-looking guitar with tone to die for. This guitar's innovative 408 pickups offer warm, full humbucking tones and clear, glassy single-coil tones all in one package. Mini toggle switches provide for switching between four coils and eight tonal combinations, stemming back to Paul’s experimentation on the Sorcerer’s Apprentice guitars in the early 1980’s. The Pattern neck carve and stunning finish give the PRS 408 solidbody electric guitar a great look and feel.Solid mahogany topped with maple looks and sounds amazingTo give the 408 a rich, yet balanced sound, PRS began by selecting a combination of mahogany capped with an exquisite maple 10-Top. This 408's mahogany body gives you natural tonal warmth, which is offset perfectly by the brighter tone of its maple top. Together, these tonewoods give you an incredibly balanced sound.Custom-wound 408 pickups and switching provide endless toneWhen PRS released their Signature Limited model, everyone at Sweetwater who got a chance to check out the new 408 pickups were absolutely blown away. But, true to his perfectionist nature, Paul Reed Smith continued to tweak these 100% proprietary pickups to perfection. In fact, he discovered that by tightening up the pickup field on a 408 bass pickup, and extending the field on the treble pickup, he was actually able to extend the guitar's tonal spectrum. The PRS 408 features a pair of these amazing 408 pickups. But it doesn't stop there. These amazing pickups also have dedicated mini switches, so you can shift to the timeless single-coil sound instantaneously. Best of all, there is no volume loss when switching to single-coil mode!
