Fender Custom Shop '58 Jazzmaster, Desert Sand, made in USA 2017. The Jazzmster launched in 1958 as a top-of-the-line offering from Fender, featuring some innovative new ideas like dual-circuit electronics, pancake single coil pickups, the Offset Vibrato bridge and tailpiece and the perfectly weighted offset body. This beautiful creature references that original trailblazer, so you get a rosewood slab fretboard, knurled knobs and a gold anodised guard, paired with the 50s-spec Desert Sand finish. It looks beautiful, truly. The modern single-slot bridge and 9.5" radius are handy touches from a playability perspective; this palys very smoothly indeed. The sound is fat and warm down low, with a breathy complexity through the mids and a chiming sparkle on the top end. You can get all sorts of tasty textures using the rhythm circuit and the very responsive tone control. These come up in Australia once in a blue moon, so it's a pretty cool opportunity. Smooth!
