The B2 featured passive Select ‘designed by EMG’ pickups and two volume controls and one tone control. The B2A added a switchable active buffer circuit, powered by a 9-volt block battery.
The bass has a battery compartment that appears to hold two 9-volt block batteries. A dummy battery is inserted in one of the slots. The passive pickups also work without power. Only slight fret wear, minor scratches and a tiny notch on the neck.
