Perform where it counts.

the RFT DM 622 is a secret omnidirectional weapon for hi-hat, snare, and even drum overheads in tight spaces. Designed in East Germany with broadcast and utility applications in mind, it combines a crisp midrange-forward tone with the kind of speed and clarity that fits right into a modern production workflow. Whether used in mono room setups or as a dedicated high-frequency spot mic, the DM 622 delivers confident transients and natural detail without hype.

BUILD & DESIGN
The DM 622 features a solid matte-finished metal body with a slight taper toward the grille for secure handheld use. Its steel mesh head includes an integrated windscreen for basic plosive control. Despite its simplicity, the build is deceptively high quality—sturdy, dense, and clearly made to withstand the demands of broadcasting and institutional use. The mic uses a large Tuchel (3-pin DIN) connector and pairs well with custom XLR adapter cables for studio integration.

SOUND CHARACTERISTICS
What sets the DM 622 apart is its neutral yet articulate character. Its low end is lean and fast—ideal for percussive instruments where clarity is more important than boom. The midrange is front and center, projecting voices and acoustic elements with confident presence. Highs are gently tapered but present enough to preserve transients and shimmer on things like hi-hats and snare wires. This makes it surprisingly useful as a close-mic on acoustic percussion or even acoustic guitar when a balanced tone is desired.
