History:
The Hungarian company "Mechanikai Laboratorium" (Mechlabor) was engaged in the production of high-performance reel-to-reel tape recorders from 1972 to 1992 in Pecs.
The production of STM-200 reel-to-reel tape recorders took place 1971 ~ 1972 in the city of Dunakeszi, located in central Hungary, in the county of Pecs.
Since 1972, the STM 210 and STM-210b reel-to-reel tape recorders have been produced in Pecs.
In 1972, 60 machines were manufactured, in 1973, 400 machines.
Since the mid-70s, its own production of magnetic heads (Mechlabor / ML) was launched in Budapest, at first these were monophonic tape heads.
For tape recorders of the STM 200 and STM 300 series, German erase heads (Munich, Germany) were installed.
Recording is carried out on two tracks across the entire width of the tape.
For the convenience of repair and maintenance, the STM 310 reel deck has a block design.
The deck has three magnetic heads: 1 for recording, 1 for playback and 1 for erasing a recording.
To control the recording in the STM 310 tape recorder, a loop-through function is provided.
Three motors are involved in the transport mechanism. Two fast rewinds of the magnetic tape and one for rotation of the tonal shaft.
For the accuracy of the belt speed, a quartz speed stabilizer is used.
Smooth speed control is used for convenience when rewinding the tape.
A mounting table located above the magnetic head assembly facilitates tape bonding.
