LOMO UM53U1.1 Stereo Microphone Set – Early 1980s – Interchangeable Capsules – Original Wooden Case

Rare vintage LOMO UM53U1.1 stereo microphone set from the early 1980s.

This is a complete modular microphone system with two microphone bodies and interchangeable capsules, offering several polar patterns for a wide range of stereo and acoustic recording applications.

The set includes:

• 2 × LOMO UM53U1.1 microphone bodies
• 2 × 8A3U1.1 cardioid capsules
• 2 × omnidirectional capsules
• 2 × figure-8 capsules
• Original microphone mount
• Original wooden storage case

Both microphones are fully functional and remain in regular studio use. I still use them for cymbals, acoustic instruments and stereo recording.

The microphones operate with standard 48V phantom power and are original units, not later conversions.

Sonically, they are very reminiscent of Schoeps microphones, with a soft, rich and natural character. The sound is detailed without becoming harsh, with a musical top end and a full, smooth midrange. They are especially beautiful on cymbals, acoustic instruments and stereo room recordings.

They are not recommended for snare drum or other sources with very high SPL transients, as they do not tolerate extreme attack levels well.

The set shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with its age, but is in very good working condition. Please see the photos for the exact cosmetic condition and included components.
