About this listing
Vintage 1942 Kalamazoo KG-21 ArchtopWow! The condition of this 1942 Kalamazoo KG-21 Archtop is better than many we've seen of this vintage. 100% original with no obvious cracks or previous repairs observed. Very limited fret wear - still good, consistent height and crown for "vintage" wire. We've seen many modern instruments in worse shape. The neck is straight and the action is currently set at a very comfortable 5/64" at the 12th fret. When fretting above the 14th,there are a couple of very minor dead spots on a couple of strings. No issues or dead spots anywhere else up and down the neck. We are seeing a slight stress gap in the finish at the heel but are confident that it's solid and won't require repair or a re-set. (Could it benefit from a re-set? Sure. But the stability and playability should be enjoyable for many years to come.)The tuner buttons are starting to break down, but function fine so we've left them as is. Some finish checking and hardware aging is visible as expected and slight markings can be seen on the body in the photos. This vintage Kalamazoo includes the original chipboard case (in rough shape - detached lid) and it sounds fantastic.
