About this listing
This vintage 1964 Fender Champ 5F1 is a rare transitional model featuring a black Tolex cabinet, silver sparkle grille cloth, and the legendary 5F1 tube circuit. At roughly 5 watts through a single 8" speaker, these amps are incredibly responsive, touch-sensitive, and full of that raw vintage Fender character. Turn it up and it delivers the natural compression, grit, and harmonic richness that made the Champ such a favorite for recording and home playing.
This example is in above-average condition and appears to retain its original components throughout, including its vintage speaker and internal electronics. The only thing we cannot verify with certainty is whether the actual two-prong plug end on the power cable is original. Otherwise, this is a very honest and well-preserved vintage amp with the kind of originality collectors look for.
More importantly, this is still an amp you can actually enjoy. It sounds great, has plenty of life left in it, and offers the kind of simple plug-in-and-play experience that makes vintage Champs so addictive. Whoever ends up with this one is going to love having it around, whether for recording, collecting, or just cranking up and enjoying a real piece of Fender history.
The simple layout incorporates a chrome control panel with a single volume control, the original Fender custom-built speaker, and a tube complement of 12AX7, 6V6GT, and 5Y3GT rectifier. It exhibits minor cosmetic wear on the cabinet and hardware, while the chassis interior reveals exceptionally clean blue molded capacitors and an intact tube chart.
