About this listing
Description: For sale is a Mesa/Boogie Stereo Simul-Class 2:Ninety / 2:90 all-tube stereo power amp. This is one of the classic rack-era Mesa power amps: huge headroom, real tube punch, 90 watts per channel, 8 x 6L6 power tubes, 3 x 12AX7 tubes, Simul-Class power, fan cooling, independent level and presence controls per channel, and Mesa’s Smart Power voicing options: Deep, Half Drive and Modern. The 2:Ninety is especially well known from high-gain, progressive, industrial, metal and 90s/00s rack guitar rigs, often paired with units like the Mesa Triaxis, Marshall JMP-1, ADA MP-1, Synergy preamps, older rack multi-effects or modern preamp/modeling setups that need a real stereo tube power section behind them. This particular unit has a cool provenance: I bought it directly from Peter Lyse Karmark / Peter “Pepe” Hansen of Danish thrash/death metal band HateSphere, as part of his old rack setup. The rack also included a Marshall JMP-1, which I am keeping. The 2:Ninety came in a flightcase marked with his name and HateSphere stickers. The flightcase is not included, but a photo of it can be shown to serious buyers. To be clear: this is not being sold as a museum-certified collectible item, but as a genuine used professional power amp with a real Danish metal history attached to it.I am selling it because it is simply too much amp for my current needs. I mainly bought the rack for the JMP-1, and I do not currently have a rehearsal room or live setup where a 2 x 90 watt tube power amp makes sense. It deserves to be used by someone with a proper rack rig, studio setup or loud live band.Condition / functionality: This is an older, tour-used rack unit with visible cosmetic wear: scratches, rack wear, dust, patina and general signs of professional live use. It is not mint, and it does not pretend to be. It looks like a piece of gear that has actually lived in racks and on stages. The unit has not been used for several years. When I bought the rack from Peter, he had tested it the day before and told me it worked fine. I have not personally tested it with a preamp and speaker cabinet since then, as I do not have a suitable rehearsal room or test setup. The unit powers on, and the fan starts running. All tubes are installed. The tubes are the same ones that were in the unit when I bought it. Their age and playing hours are unknown, so they should be considered used/non-new.Known issue: the Channel A Presence pot has normal resistance and feels usable, but it does not mechanically stop at the end of its travel. It can be turned all the way around after “bumping” past the stop point. Channel B Presence behaves normally.Because of its age, weight, and the fact that it has not been recently tested under load, it is sold strictly as described / as-is, with no returns.Specifications: Mesa/Boogie Stereo Simul-Class 2:Ninety / 2:90 All-tube stereo power amp 90 watts per channel Simul-Class power section 8 x 6L6 power tubes 3 x 12AX7 tubes Two channels Independent level and presence controls per channel Smart Power modes: Deep, Half Drive and Modern Line / Instrument input select Ground / Lift Fan cooled 2U rackmount format Approx. 35 lbs / 15.9 kg 230V EU version Fixed EU/Schuko power cable Included: Mesa/Boogie Stereo Simul-Class 2:Ninety power amp only.
