About this listing
This is a Fender Japan Esquire, model TES61-65 (TLC-54B), featuring the bound body specification. It has an A serial number, but based on the neck date, it appears to have been made in 1990. (A discrepancy of this程度 is quite normal for Fender Japan instruments from this period.)“TLC-54B” is the model code stamped in the neck pocket and on the heel of the neck, while the correct catalog model name seems to be “TES61-65.” It has a very simple specification with just one pickup and no unnecessary extras, but because of that simplicity, it seems to produce a sound that only this model can deliver. I would especially recommend it to Telecaster players who mainly use the bridge pickup anyway.Because it is equipped with only one rear pickup, the function of the 3-way selector switch is different from that of a standard Telecaster, and it is said to have a unique internal tone circuit:Switch in the rear position: the pickup signal is bypassed, so turning the tone knob does not change the sound at all (the volume control still works).Switch in the center position: the tone knob functions normally.Switch in the front position: regardless of the tone knob setting, it produces a high-cut sound similar to a Telecaster with the tone knob fully rolled off in the center position.Specifications Body: Alder with binding Neck: Maple Fingerboard: Rosewood Pickup: TL VINTAGE ×1 (USA)The weight is approximately 3.7 kg.There is a noticeable ding on the tip of the headstock, and there are also several marks, small scratches, and light play wear on the body. However, considering its age, I would say it is in very good condition. At a glance, it would not be surprising if someone thought it was a much more recent used guitar. The frets still have plenty of life left as well. The guitar has been fully cleaned and given a basic setup. The included accessories are the original soft case and the original warranty card from the time of sale, which is a rare and valuable extra.Because the zipper on the case has an issue, I will also include a slightly larger gig bag for shipping.
