About this listing
1995–96 Fender Japan TL-90D Foto Flame Deluxe Telecaster in Transparent Cherry - w/Hamburgler. Made in Japan. FujiGen.This is a particularly nice all-original, unaltered example of the sought-after mid-1990s Fender Japan TL-90D Foto Flame Telecaster. The guitar features the striking Transparent Cherry finish with highly figured Foto Flame treatment, a beautifully figured Foto Flame maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, pearloid pickguard, and traditional two-pickup Telecaster configuration. The guitar is identified by the TL-90D model marking in the neck pocket and carries serial number U006330. The neck is stamped Made in Japan, and the guitar retains its distinctive original-period construction and routing.ConditionThe guitar is in very good to excellent condition for its age, with the expected cosmetic wear from approximately 30 years of use.The Transparent Cherry finish remains exceptionally vibrant and glossy. There are some small edge dings, finish marks and light scratches, particularly on the back, but there is no obvious structural damage. The Foto Flame finish on both the body and neck is remarkably well preserved, with no visible lifting, bubbling or peeling. The neck pocket, body routing and electronics cavities are shown in the photographs for transparency.FeaturesFender Japan TL-90DCirca 1995–96Made in JapanFujiGen productionTransparent Cherry Foto Flame finishFigured Foto Flame maple neck with "Hamburgler" imageRosewood fingerboardThree-pickup Deluxe Telecaster configurationPearloid pickguardSix-saddle bridgeTraditional Telecaster control layout, 5-position switchSerial number: U006330TL-90D model marking visible in neck pocketElectronics & OriginalityThe guitar has been carefully photographed with the pickguard, control plate and pickups removed so prospective buyers can see the construction, routing and electronics. The photos show clean factory-style routing with no evidence of additional body routing or major structural modification. Soldering appears to be all factory-original.Please review all photographs carefully. I have intentionally included detailed photos of the neck pocket, pickup cavities, electronics and underside of the pickguard rather than relying solely on exterior photographs. The Hamburgler NeckOne of the most distinctive features of this guitar is the original “Hamburgler” graphic on the Foto Flame neck. This unusual graphic is a particularly recognizable feature of the period Fender Japan Foto Flame instruments and is one of the details that makes this guitar stand out from a conventional MIJ Telecaster. The graphic is exceptionally well preserved, with the Foto Flame finish and neck graphic showing very little deterioration for a guitar of this age.CaseIncluded is a high-quality period-correct tweed hardshell case with brown leather-style trim and deep burgundy plush interior. The case is in excellent condition and is an excellent match for the guitar.I am not representing the case as the original factory-supplied case; rather, it is being included as a quality period-appropriate case that provides excellent protection and presentation for the instrument. Why this one is specialThe Foto Flame treatment on these Japanese Fender instruments is one of the defining characteristics of the era, but surviving examples with clean, intact finishes are increasingly difficult to find. This example is particularly attractive because the Transparent Cherry finish remains vivid and the Foto Flame neck has survived exceptionally well. This would make an excellent addition to a collection of Japanese Fender instruments, or simply a great-playing vintage MIJ Telecaster for someone who appreciates the craftsmanship of the FujiGen era.Serial: U006330Model: TL-90DCountry: JapanApprox.
