Here for sale we have a Fender American Original '60s Jazzmaster electric guitar in 3-Color Sunburst Nitrocellulose finish. Made in the USA in 2017, this guitar is part of Fender's American Original series which was designed to capture the 'best of the decade' with a few modern refinements for the contemporary musician. Made in the USA in 2018, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising an Alder body, Maple neck and 21 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel/Chrome hardware is fitted, including a vintage-style floating tremolo and vintage-style split-post tuning machines. A pair of Fender Pure Vintage '65 Jazzmaster single-coil pickups are installed, and are wired to the standard Jazzmaster controls. The Maple neck plays very well, with the Mid '60s 'C' profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial grip, whilst remaining slim enough for fast articulate playing. Certainly, the profile is distinct from Fender's more modern offerings and delivers a unique but practical playing experience across the register. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its 9.5" radius is well suited to a wide range of styles and techniques. The Pearloid fingerboard inlays and binding are a nice touch which add a real sense of luxury to the playing experience. The offset body shape is as comfortable and practical in the arms as ever, feeling well balanced on the shoulders and offering easy access to all of the controls. Although the Jazzmaster never really took off with Fender's intended target market, it has gathered a cult following throughout alternative music scenes such as punk, surf and grunge. This American Original '60s version makes it plain why it has been the go-to instrument for musical rebels since its release. The extensive controls provide a wide range of sounds, with unique single-coil pickups which were designed specifically for the Jazzmaster. The neck position in the lead circuit is warm and round, getting darker still when switched to the rhythm circuit. The bridge pickup is bright, delivering a smattering of the signature Fender 'twang' as well as saturating into a full-bodied distortion when driving the amp. Any markings to the headstock are difficult to discern.Neck: Overall excellent condition. Any markings to the neck and fingerboard are difficult to discern.Body: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the body demonstrate light to mild scratching, scuffing and indentations. Most notably indentation to the treble side horn, near the rear face tip and to the treble and bass sides of the lower bout. These markings have pierced the finish and reveal the wood beneath. Less significant indentations and scuff marks are consistently apparent around the sides of the lower bout.Condition of Frets:The frets demonstrate light to mild signs of use, with very light denting apparent in the early register, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.Current Set Up:Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (flat head driver) not included.Hardware: Fully functional and very good condition. Light scratching and tarnishing is apparent to the tuners, bridge and tailpiece. Due to the vintage style tremolo systems hard tension spring, the tremolo lock button is unable to function as intended.
