Gibson Custom Shop Kirk Hammett 1989 Les Paul Custom – Murphy LabUp for sale is my Gibson Custom Shop Kirk Hammett 1989 Les Paul Custom, finished in Murphy Lab aged Ebony and built as a recreation of one of Kirk Hammett’s longtime touring Les Pauls.This is an incredible Les Paul Custom and easily one of the coolest artist models Gibson has produced. The Murphy Lab aging gives it the look and feel of a genuinely road-worn late-’80s Custom without feeling overdone. The checking, hardware aging, binding and overall wear give the guitar a ton of character, and the neck has the broken-in feel you want from a guitar like this.The guitar features the classic Les Paul Custom appointments — mahogany body, maple top, ebony fingerboard, block inlays and multi-ply binding — along with the specifications Gibson developed to recreate Kirk’s original 1989 instrument. It has the unmistakable weight, sustain and authority of a great Les Paul Custom, with plenty of clarity when cleaned up and exactly the kind of aggressive response you’d expect when pushed through a high-gain amp.This is also the version equipped with the Fishman Powerbridge piezo system, giving you the ability to get acoustic-style tones directly from the guitar in addition to the traditional humbucker sounds. It’s a seriously useful feature and part of what makes this model different from a typical Les Paul Custom.The guitar has been well cared for and is being sold with its original Gibson Custom Shop case and original accessories/case candy [edit as applicable].
