The Les Paul R8 typically features a fairly chunky neck and a maple “Plain Top,” beautifully showcased here in its Iced Tea Burst finish. The body and neck are made of mahogany, while the rosewood fingerboard has a classic 12-inch radius. The original pickups have been replaced with an excellent set of Tulepo pickups, handmade in France by the luthier of the same name. The electronics, jack plate, and tuners have also been upgraded, now featuring Grover machines. Sold without its certificate of authenticity, in its original case.More pix and details upon request. Overview

  • The 2006 - 2012 Custom Shop '58 Les Paul Standard Reissues featured mahogany bodies with figured maple tops, Fat '50s necks with rosewood fretboards, and Burstbucker pickups. They were available in VOS or Gloss finishes
  • VOS finishes are slightly duller, and meant to simulate a vintage patina. Gloss finishes originally retailed for slightly more than VOS models.
  • Available in both Gloss and VOS versions of Iced Tea Burst, Washed Cherry, and Faded Tobacco, along with various other limited run finishes.
  • During this time, a 50th Anniversary model was also produced, along with a plaintop model.
  • Pickups were updated in 2013 to Gibson's Custombucker humbuckers.
