About this listing
This is a very nice condition 1967 ( May17) Fender Mustang Bass in Olympic white. It is in very much original condition, just the strings and the removed rubber string mutes that appeared on these earliest examples have been changed. This bass has a patina consistent with a carefully played instrument of 60 years, with beautiful natural lacquer checking on the body (see pic) and lots of tiny nicks and dings in the usual spots the always seem to occur with even the gentlest of use. There is only one small spot of the neck where the lacquer has been worn through ( see pic). The frets are still original and intact due to a lifetime of having been played exclusively with flatwound strings and the fingerboard is equally pristine. The hardware ( tuning machines, neckplate, bridge components are all rust free and working as they should, and the truss rod has bee checked for proper function and is in fine working condition, needing no undue tension that would sink it deep into the hole (see pic). The bass sounds and plays very well, with a tone that is richer and more mellow than that of its modern counterparts. The case is in decent, solid clean condition and all latches and hinges are present and accounted for and working well, the tolex is still in quite presentable condition and the lining is clean and solidly attached to the interior, and there are no odors aside from that "old guitar" smell that we all have learned to love.If you look at the pics, you will see a couple of very small spots if green magic marker or something at the butt near the strap button and on the neck block area under the neck. I actually have no sloid explanation of that other than a guess of "kids with colored pens that got ahold of dad's bass guitar". I would just let that be as a way to identlfy your bass. This is available for immediate shipping and will be sent out to the buyer promptly, well-packed and fully insured by Reverb.
