Early Vintage Ampeg Baby Bass - Serial #00239- Original Sunburst- Very Good Condition-Collector GradeOffered here is an exceptionally well-preserved early production AMPEG BABY BASS, serial number 00239, representing one of the earliest surviving examples of this iconic electric upright. Early production instruments are increasingly difficult to locate--especially examples that retain their original finish and original hardware. The body UVEX shell remains exceptionally well preserved; this instrument retains its original sculpted profile. The body has had professionally repaired seam separations, which are visible upon close inspection. The repairs are structurally sound and do not affect the playability, stability, or tone of the instrument. The neck appears to have had an older repair or finish touch-up, though its history cannot be confirmed. It appears to be a flame maple neck. It is currently straight, stable, and structurally sound, with no evidence of active movement or issues affecting playability. The original bridge has been upgraded to a handcrafted sandalwood bridge that was precision laser measured and custom fit to the exact radius and contours of the fingerboard. This custom setup provides consistent string height, improved playability, balanced string-to-string response, and optimal tonal clarity while preserving the instrument's classic Baby Bass character. The original bridge is included in the sale.Vintage Ampeg Baby Bass of this caliber are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
